Farm. Protect. Control.

“THE FASTER
YOU EXTERMINATE
THE MORE PREDATORS THERE ARE
TO EXTERMINATE”

PREDATION PATTERNS
Predators have instinctive territorial urges and behavioral patterns.

Science has proven that the eradication of predators leads to a drastic increase in breeding intervals and litter sizes.

Predators bite to kill. If the predator gets injured in the process of attacking a lamb the animal will start avoiding these lambs.

Predators need to be outwitted rather than exterminated. Extermination should be the last resort.

WHAT IS PAL?

PAL is an interchangeable system that enables you to:

- Protect your lambs
- Easily and effectively manage predation
- Be able to accommodate the predator’s territorial instinct

WHY DOES PAL WORK?

PAL is a pioneering three-phased system that solves your predation problems:

- Collars affect three of the predator’s senses directly
- Immediate physical injury to predator (not necessarily killing the animal)
- System uses the predators behavioural instinct as a weapon
- All contained in a single collar-system

THE PAL SYSTEM

PHASE 1
COLLAR & BELL

- Fitted to lamb from birth
- Sound and smell make the lamb “unattractive prey”
PHASE 2
SPIKE COLLAR & REFLECTOR

- Easily adaptable to the PAL Bell Collar (Phase 1)
- Eight sharp 20mm nails ensure a bloody-mouthed predator
- Reflectors indicate Spike Collars at night
- Predator associates reflector with pain
PHASE 3
POISON COLLAR (TARGET SPECIFIC)

- Less than 30% of lambs to be fitted with the Poison Collar
- Absence of reflector on the Poison Collar encourages predator
- In extreme cases, this is the most effective collar

ALL COMPONENTS AVAILABLE SEPERATELY

- Simple spring wire clamp with small hook
- Slim adjustable collar; bell with hook

PAL creator & farmer – Eddie Steenkamp

“I am constantly exploring and experimenting with new ideas in order to create a simple but holistic product. It has to be effective and workable together with a simple management plan and needs to keep predators from becoming immune to it. That is the secret.”

Eddie has decades of sheep farming experience under his belt. With a farm next to a National Conservation Park in the Beaufort-West area of South-Africa, Eddie has been dealing with predators and their behavioural instincts for many years. The PAL system has been a huge success since the 1990’s and farmers from all over the country haven been relying on Eddie’s collars ever since.
